Does Haye deserve a world title shot for smacking Chisora?

Image: Does Haye deserve a world title shot for smacking Chisora?By William Mackay: David Haye has become somewhat of hero to Klitschko fans for taking care of Dereck Chisora last Saturday night in the Vitali Klitschko – Dereck Chisora post fight press conference. Chisora had shown a lot of disrespect to both of the Klitshkos and yet neither of them lifted a finger to retaliate against him.

But Haye didn’t put up for a second on Saturday night. As soon as Chisora walked up on him to confront him, Haye blasted Chisora with a big right hand to the head and then wrestled/elbowed him to the ground. After Haye and Chisora were finally separated, Chisora held back, while Chisora’s trainer Don Charles attempted to mix it up with Haye.

In the eyes of a lot of boxing fans who saw the press conference, Haye has redeemed himself for his loss to Wladimir and is now being looked at with a lot of respect. I myself can’t help seeing the guy as kind of the star of the press conference because he not only took over the entire agenda by making it about him and his desire to get a fight with Vitali, but they he smacked Chisora and did what a lot of boxing fans were hoping the Klitschkos would do but failed to. I don’t know about the Klitschkos but I feel Haye deserves a title shot against either of them just for standing up and not taking any BS from Chisora.

Klitschko manager Bernd Boente ruled out a fight between Haye and Vitali during the press conference. However, that was before the Chisora fight. Hopefully they’re seeing Haye in a different light now that the press conference is over because I think he did a good thing. I’d much rather see Vitali fight Haye next than to see Vitali wasting time facing Chisora for a second time, which is something he’s talking about now.
