The slap left a huge red print on the left side of Vitali’s face and did a lot more than that by making him incredibly angry. The risk in slapping Vitali is that if he had cut him in the process of doing that, the fight would likely have to be postponed. That would have cost money, and impacted a lot of people.

The idea of slapping Vitali appears to have come from Chisora himself without the help of any of those around him, as his trainer claims to have no knowledge of Chisora having planned this move ahead of time, and he was as shocked as a lot of people to see Vitali getting hit.

The slap will cost Chisora some money, according to hattonboxing.com. Chisora will have to pay the World Boxing Council a £30,000 fine. Whether Chisora can get out of having to pay this huge fine is unknown at this point, but that’s going to really hurt him if he’s stuck paying the whole thing. That’s a considerable amount of his purse for the fight.

Vitali said this about the slap incident: “In my view, he’s kind of crazy. However, he’ll get an answer to this in Saturday evening’s fight.”

Chisora tried to change the way Vitali saw him by mentally getting into his head by slapping him. But that’s not going to work because the talent levels are so far apart between the two fighters. Chisora is a B level fighter trying to psyche out an A+ fighter to get an edge. It’s not going to work. Vitali is a higher model than Chisora and mind games won’t improve Chisora’s limited talent.
