World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KO’s) and WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (28-0-1 NC, 12 KO’s) will square off on June 9 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Bradley, though undefeated has never been known to be a huge draw, most likely because of his style of fighting. “Desert Storm” as he is known to his fans has a style of fighting which includes frequent unintentional head butts. Hence his opponents have to always be on guard for what is referred to as Bradley’s third weapon, his bald head.

Arum announced that 80% of the tickets for the fight have already been taken leaving the remaining 20% to be sold when they become available on Friday, February 24. The question boxing insiders have is how well the fight sells to Pay Per View (PPV) fans? Always an eternal optimist when it comes to promoting a fight, Arum does not think it will be a problem. Arum was quoted in The Ring saying the following:

“What’s not to like? Tim Bradley has a pristine record; he’s never tasted defeat. He brings tremendous credentials. Plus, as I said earlier on the podium he’s a real credit to the sport of boxing by the way he conducts himself in and out of the ring. I’m personally very proud to have Tim Bradley as part of this promotion. He’s faced some of the best fighters in the world today and he doesn’t care about the “0” on his record.”

The remark about Bradley not caring about the “0” on his record is an obvious swipe at undefeated superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. Floyd has faced wide criticism for being obsessed with protecting the “0” on his record and not willing to risk fighting a top notch fighter, namely Manny Pacquiao.

According to Arum there will be anywhere from 1000 to 1200 media covering the event coming from all over the world. The Top Rank CEO believes that the match between Pacquiao and Bradley will be a very competitive event.

Arum is so good at what he does that even those who started out being skeptics, if left around him for a long enough period of time eventually become believers.
