Image: Timothy Bradley: Khan was really fouling Peterson; I'd hurt himBy William Mackay: WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley was disappointed in the performance from former IBF/WBA light welterweight Amir Khan last Saturday in his losing effort against Lamont Peterson. Bradley saw Khan fouling continuously in the fight and felt his performance was amateurish.

Bradley told fighthype.com “Khan was fouling. He was definitely fouling. Kept pushing, and it wasn’t a little shove; it was a push, literally…I could count 30 to 40 times he did that…I would seriously do damage to that boy.”

Before Khan’s fight with Peterson, pretty much the entire boxing world felt that Khan would beat Bradley if they were to ever fight. But after Khan’s fight against Peterson, where he exposed as having no inside fighting ability, the boxing world now sees Bradley as the best fighter in the division. Khan is a good fighter against certain types of guys, but if you put him in with a pressure fighter like Marcos Maidana, Peterson and Bradley, Khan will struggle.

Bradley is arguably a better pressure fighter than Peterson. Khan would have to show skills that he doesn’t possess at this time for him to beat a guy like Bradley. The only way Khan beats Bradley is if he has a referee working that allows him to push off and pull Bradley’s head down all night.

Even then, I’m still not so certain that Khan would be able to stand up to Bradley’s constant pressure and body attack. He would have Khan to the point where he would have to up his fouling to another level in order to survive. It might require Khan to push off more than 70 or more times in the fight to keep the 5’6” Bradley from crowding him, because he does all of his work on the inside due to his limited reach.
