I then want KhanBy William Mackay: Breidis Prescott (24-2, 19 KO’s) intends on being quick about it on Saturday night in taking care of Paul McCloskey (22-1, 12 KO’s) in their WBA light welterweight title eliminator bout at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Prescott sees the fight not going past the 6th round, and is hoping he doesn’t have to chase McCloskey all around the ring to finally put him out of his misery.

Prescott said this to irish-boxing.com: “I don’t see the fight going past six rounds and after I wish I want to fight Amir Khan…Hopefully Paul McCloskey comes to fight and doesn’t run around the ring. I will have my info red aim on him…I just hope when I put my hands on him he doesn’t turn into Lance Armstrong and try and pedal away.”

Who is Prescott trying to kid? Of course McCloskey won’t come to fight. He doesn’t have the power or the speed to stand up to Prescott’s big shots for even for a moment in this fight. McCloskey will fight exactly how he fought against Khan last April by fighting with his hands down by his sides just looking to back away and dodge incoming shots from Prescott, while landing an occasional shot. It’s not going to be a recipe to beating Prescott that’s for sure. McCloskey will look to land in the second half of the fight if he makes it that far, which I seriously doubt. He’ll momentarily make a go of it and then decide that it’s safer to keep away once he tastes some of Prescott’s big power shots.
