What next for Zab Judah?

Image: What next for Zab Judah?By Scott Gilfoid: Right now Zab Judah has got to be feeling pretty down about his 5th round TKO loss to WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan, but it’s not all bad. The fight ended with some controversy because of Khan’s shot below the belt.

The referee ruled it was a legitimate knockdown, but not everyone feels that way. I don’t. It looked like a nice low blow to me along with Khan grabbing the back of Judah’s head and pulling it down as he landed with a right below decks. If I were the referee I would have taken a point away from Khan on the spot.

I think Judah needs to get back in the ring as soon as possible so that he can put this loss behind him. He can’t just wallow in unhappiness about the lack of a call for the low blow. I’d suggest that Judah go after one of the top contenders to work his way back into a title shot.

Here are the guys I think Judah needs to pick from for his next fight:

Lamont Peterson
Humberto Soto
Breidis Prescott
Paul McCloskey
Marcos Maidana
Mike Alvarado
Victor Cayo
Lucas Matthysee

Any one of those fighters would be perfect for Judah in his next fight. The important thing is he takes on someone good so that he can get some credit for when he beats them. It’s meaningless if he beats some scrub opponent that no one has ever heard of or cares about.

It’s got to be one of these guys. Judah already beat Matthyse, but he would help himself in a big way if he were to agree to fight Matthysse in his home country of Argentina this time so that no one complains after Judah beats him. There’s one thing I can stand is someone with a big yap making a fuss after Judah beats their fighter.
