McKenna (McJack): With the fight between Tomasz Adamek (44-1, 28 KO’s) and World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39 KO’s) now just a month away the excitement is starting to build. The Adamek – Klitschko showdown will be on September 10 in a newly constructed soccer stadium in Wroclaw, Poland.

It is expected that upwards of 40,000 mostly pro Adamek fans will attend the event. HBO will air the fight.

Most boxing writers and fans do not give Adamek, who is a former cruiserweight and light heavyweight champion, much of a chance against the dominant champion “Dr. Ironfist”. “Goral” as he is known to his fans in Poland does not see things that way.

Adamek is winding down what he describes as a very good training camp at Bushkill in the Pocono mountains of Pennsylvania. Tomasz has completed eight weeks of training at Bushkill and says every minute there has been utilized. Adamek also stated that there is an HBO crew in camp and that the schedule is full with no time to waste. Even a local shopping trip is seen as a welcome break from the rigors of the daily training regimen.

Adamek will complete his training on August 31 and will be leaving for Poland on the same day.

There had been rumors circulating earlier in the week that the fight might have to be delayed when Vitali interrupted his training and traveled to the Ukraine because of political unrest there. Those rumors were quickly squashed when both the Adamek and Klitschko camps quickly issued statements strongly denying that there would be any delay and that Vitali is training hard for the fight. Adamek expects Vitali to be 100% for the fight.

During a recent interview on German television Vladimir Klitschko stated that Vitali is aware of how good a fighter Tomasz is and that he expects a very technical and difficult fight. Vitali has said all along that Adamek was a much better fighter than David Haye.

“Dr. Ironfist” takes every fight seriously and this fight is no exception.

Vitali is also aware that in Wroclaw he will be in the enemy camp. He is also aware of what can happen when a fight goes to the scorecards. For his part Klitschko is promising a spectacular victory.
