Ward is hoping that the 33-year-old Froch can somehow beat the 42-year-old Johnson so that Ward can face Froch in the finals of the Super Six tournament and shut him up once and for all. Ward realizes that a fight against Froch would be the bigger fight compared to an all American clash against the U.S based Johnson.

However, Ward isn’t sure that Froch has the talent to beat Johnson, saying “It’s a 50-50 fight in my opinion. Either guy has the potential and the ability to win this fight.”

Ward is expected to be the eventual Super Six tourney winner, whether he faces Froch or Johnson. Ward is simply looking a lot better than either of these fighters right now and Froch would have to really turn things around to make anyone change their minds about that. We’re basically looking at the Froch-Johnson fight as a bout picking the eventual loser to Ward. That’s basically what we have here. As good as these two fighters are, you can’t really give Johnson or Froch much of a chance to beat a class fighter like Ward. It would come to whether those guys could knock Ward out or not. They would only have a puncher’s chance of beating Ward, and that’s never a good thing.

Froch says he feels strong and didn’t have to struggle to make the 168 pound weight limit. Froch’s fans think that Johnson struggled to make the fight. However, this was the same thing that was said about Johnson before his last fight against Allan Green and we didn’t see any weakness from Johnson in his 9th round stoppage of Green. You have to dismiss any talk of Johnson being weakened as more of a case of Froch fans hoping that Johnson is weakened from making weight rather than knowing.
