Image: Will Haye retire if he gets brutally knocked out by Wladimir?By Scott Gilfoid: WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) has been flapping his gums about wanting to retire on his 31st birthday in October, and with his nine-year pro career right about the end, will Haye decide to put away his toys and retire a little earlier than that date if IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) brutally knocks him on July 2nd?

It’s hard to imagine Haye wanting to continue fighting after Wladimir decimates him in front of the entire world, but it’s hard to figure Haye. I don’t think Haye will continue fighting even if he does beat Wladimir. I just don’t think Haye is serious about wanting to fight WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko. That’s a fight I don’t think Haye wants. If Haye were to keep fighting after a win over Wladimir, I see Haye going after a recently beat Tomasz Adamek or some other European guy so that Haye can get another payday before hanging up his gloves.

Don’t see him fighting Vitali and risking an almost sure thing knockout loss. But I’m really curious what Haye will do if Wladimir gives him a pizza face and knocks him out. Would Haye decide to come back from that loss to end his career on a positive note by digging up one of the 40ish type guys that Haye has been exclusively fighting since he moved up to the heavyweight division or would he try and talk his way into a fight with Vitali, even though there would hardly be much of any demand for that fight once Wladimir knocks Haye out.

Would Haye go for the ultimate cash out fight against Vitali or take the easy route by dragging out Audley Harrison for another great fight for the British audiences to pay to see? Like I said, I don’t think Haye wants any part of Vitali whether Haye wins or loses the Wladimir fight. I hope I’m wrong, though, because I wouldn’t seeing that fight.
