In a recent press conference to promote his September 10th fight against challenger Tomasz Adamek (44-1, 28 KO’s) at the Stadion Miejski, Wroclaw, Poland, Vitali pointed out that he thinks that Adamek is stronger than Haye.

Here is what Vitali had to say about Haye: “Who is better – Tomas Adamek or David Haye? I’m more than sure that David Haye is world champion by talking. Adamek was many times world champion by boxing. Right now I’m sorry for that. He wants to fight in the heavyweight. He wants to fight for a title in the heavyweight division. Okay, my personal opinion by talking, Tomasz will lose. By fighting, Tomasz is much more stronger.”

It’s interesting that Vitali is bringing up Haye and Adamek, because both of them might well make for an interesting loser’s bracket fight after their fights with the Klitschko brothers. Haye faces Wladimir Klitschko on July 2nd in Hamburg, Germany and is expected to lose that fight. Haye has mentioned wanting to retire in October, but few people believe he actually will. When he sees all the money he can still make by continuing his career, Haye will likely decide against retiring. A fight against Adamek would be the perfect comeback fight for Haye after a knockout loss to Wladimir and who knows? Perhaps the winner of that fight could take on Wladimir or Vitali for another shot at a mega fight. I think that would be a good option for Adamek and Haye, because it would be a big waste for them to go back to fighting fringe contenders or B level fighters.
