Mosley makes excuses for his horrible performance against Pacquiao

By Richard Hall: Shane Mosley (46-39 KO – 7-1), in an interview six days after his lopsided loss against Manny Pacquiao talks about how he couldn’t handle the terrific power off Pacquiao. Shane Mosley describes and openly admits that he has never fought anybody with power like that. Mosley describes how was beaten up more than he’s ever been beaten up before, that’s with Vernon Forrest and everybody. Really i think he made Pacman look standard even though lost. He seems that he hasn’t run out of excuses for his age, and he is saying these things to protect his legacy.

Mosley went on to say the shot he got hit with, changed the fight. He said the only thing he could do was move away from him. Then more excuses come along with the biggest lie of the interview. He claimed after he got knocked down in that third round, he went to his seat, he looked up and it was the 6th round. “I remember looking up like what round am I in now? I looked up and it’s the 6th.” Mosley knew before the fight he was facing a much finer tuned and younger athlete and he was happy to receive $500,000 dollars per boring round for the boxing public to watch. I think it is a discredit to boxing fans for not engaging in this fight and his excuses are even worse. Mosley has received a great deal of criticism for not been willing from the first bell, and he deserves it. Team Pacquiao knew Mosley was not fit and not mentally strong enough to contend with Pacquiao, Mosley’s legs went shot years back .The question is what was arum thinking? In November 2011 roach commented on Mosley saying ” He is to old he should just retire”

However Mosley did expose Pacquiao as a one dimensional fighter, as Manny other fighters have done in the past. Juan Manuel Marquez, Erik Morales. These two are prime examples of showing how Pacman just couldn’t adjust and how he couldn’t handle a fighter not coming forward and counter-punching on the back foot. Manny doesn’t like this and no matter what roach tells him, against these types of fighters he will come in all guns blazing open to pot shots and counters. Mosley did this also, but the difference is as i have stated he cannot engage at the top level of the sport anymore. He’s just too old only a hand full of fighters can do this. With the stamina and the hunger that Mosley had 4 -6 years back Mosley would have torn Pacquiao inside out. Juan Manuel is due to fight Pacman in November, though a gifted counter-puncher and technical boxer he is aging and has shown he is slow at welterweight. It is reported that they are due to fight at 144 catch weight which is what Manny normally is for his welterweight fights. This will give Manny a big advantage because Marquez’s normal fighting weight is 135. I honestly think this fight is a complete and utter waste of people’s time, Manny needs to fight someone young, preferably undefeated. I’m not naming names but there is two or three young guys out there who would give Pacquiao a stern test.
