Image: Fury says Chisora looked afraid when he confronted him last SaturdayBy Sean McDaniel: Unbeaten heavyweight Tyson Fury (14-0, 10 KO’s) says he saw fear from British heavyweight champion Derek Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) when the 6’9″ Fury ran after Chisora to confront him at the O2 Arena last Saturday night about some past comments that Chisora had made about Fury. Chisora and Fury will be mixing it up on July 23 when Fury challenges Chisora for his British heavyweight title at the Wembley Arena in London.

In an article at thesun.co.uk, Fury said “He’d been saying that my promoter Mick Hennessy had been trying to steal the British title from him to give it to me without us fighting.” Fury then confronted Chisora at the O2 when he spotted him in the crowd, saying “Who do you think you are talking about me in the papers? Do you honestly think you can get away with it? He was lost for words so I followed up by telling him that I’ll knock him out when we fight. I told him I’d kill him. He looked scared and back right up.”

This is somewhat difficult to imagine because Chisora has never been the type to act afraid of anyone. Even when Chisora was poised to fight IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko on two occasions, Chisora never showed any fear of Wladimir. Taking that all in, it’s difficult to believe what Fury is saying about Chisora being afraid of him. Fury hasn’t looked all that good in recent fights in beating the likes of Marcelo Luiz Nascimento, Zack Page, Rich Power and John McDermott. Chisora seems to be fighting at a higher level right now and Fury has really got his work cut out of him when they meet up.
