Image: Wladimir: Haye is my creation - he will eat the jab for 12 roundsBy Scott Gilfoid: IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko intends on making WBA heavyweight champion suffer slowly in their upcoming fight in July in Hamburg, Germany. Instead of doing away with Haye relatively quickly and mercifully like Wladimir has done with most of his opponents during his long career, he’s going to make Haye eat jabs for 11 rounds before taking him out in the 12th round. Wladimir wants to punish Haye with his powerful jabs and leave him with a “pizza face” by the end of the fight. In other words, Wladimir wants to make a mess of Haye’s face with his jab by cutting up his skin and causing it to swell up like many of Wladimir’s past opponents.

In their meeting in Manhattan on Tuesday, Wladimir said this according to the nypost.com: “You are my creation…[you will] eat the jab for 12 rounds.” Haye made a name for himself around the world by calling out Wladimir constantly month after month after moving up to the heavyweight division. Haye got a lot of attention by what you call name dropping, which is a shortcut that some people use to gain fame. It’s a way of raising your own status by mentioning someone who has achieved more than you and hoping to be seen on their level by mentioning them enough. Haye was able to get a title fight against WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev after only one fight at heavyweight against 38-year-old Monte Barrett. Haye didn’t have to work his way to that title shot by fighting someone like Ruslan Chagaev, Odlanier Solis, or Alexander Povetkin.

Haye said this in response to Wladimir’s comment about Haye taking a beating with his jab: “Sure, I’m going to stand there and let you jab at me for 12 rounds. He’s the main man. People will realize I’m better than him and that’s what I want. I’ve always wanted to prove that I’m the best. This is my chance to prove that I’m the main man in the world. The boxing fans deserve this fight.”
