Last weekend

Unfortunately through no fault of my own (damn virgin media) I could not whiteness the fight last weekend between Stuart hall and John Donnelly. Here is a list of the results from the card;

Stuart Hall TKO5 John Donnelly
Karl Place TKO5 George Watson
Josh Warrington UD Chris Riley
Glen Foot TKO1 Matt Doyle

I will assure you that as soon as I get to see the above fights I will give you all my review on them, so stay tuned.

This Weekend

Primetime sports and Hatton promotions this week brings us the all British showdown between Amir “king” Khan and Irishman Paul McCloskey. This will be Amir’s forth defence of his WBA strap but only his second in Britain so this could be a great home coming. Paul McCloskey is coming into this bout undefeated in twenty two bouts, the European champion (with two defences) the ex British champion and high ranking by many governing bodies.

Many fans have been quick to over look this fight and look toward the unification bout between King Khan and Timothy Bradley but Khan really cannot afford to do that. Yeah this fight may turn out to be easy but you really cannot over look any professional in this game, as good as you are.

I still believe Amir will win and in good fashion. I am predicting that Khan’s mix of speed and power will be way too much for the Irishman and will buckle towards the end of the fight.

Prediction – Amir Khan by 8th round stoppage.

Also on the card is he return of Rendall Munroe after his disastrous world title bout. Munroe will be facing a game Andrei Isaeu in his first fight in six months. Undefeated middleweight prospect Martin Murray will be defending his WBA international title against Brazilian John Anderson Carvalho. Also Craig Watson defends his British title against the tough Lee Purdy. What a fantastic card.

Quick news

In fantastic news for British boxing, EBU lightweight champion John Murray will be making his third defence against Welsh, British champion Gavin Rees. No official date has been set for the fight but the EBU have called for the purse bids to be submitted by April 21st.

Last week James Degale was targeted by a humorous Youtube video by George groves and his camp, this week groves has been on the receiving end with the new video “ugly kid”. Both videos are funny and clever but for me the “James DeFail” has to take the crown.

Also in Degale/Graves news, contrary to reports released by Degale and his team, Carl Froch has responded saying he did not knock Groves out in sparring. The WBC super middleweight champion had this to say, “That’s rubbish, I didn’t knock him out – if I knock somebody out, that means they’re out cold and don’t carry on fighting.

Reports have been flying that WBA heavyweight champion David Haye has cheated on his wife Natasha with ex stripper and former X-factor contestant Amie Buck. Although both his wife and his child have left the heavyweight king, Haye seems almost unconcerned to the public.

Amir Khan has blasted TV company Sky Sports because of there “lack of support” in his upcoming fight against the Irish Paul McCloskey. The big British fight will now be broadcast on the little known Pay-per-view channel “Primetime”.

Mexican Saul Alvarez and his camp are hoping for no distractions before his upcoming June 18th bout with Brit Ryan Rhodes. The spanner in the works is fellow Mexican Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. who is offering up a fight with Canelo. Chavez Jr. has been publicly taunting Alvarez for a while now.

Hoping to emulate many of his heroes and past Welsh greats, Nathan Cleverly is hoping to knock out his next foe, the German Juergen Braehmer for the WBO light heavyweight strap, in the first round.

European light heavyweight champion Danny McIntosh will be defending his European crown for the first time on the Sebastian Sylvester Vs Daniel Geale under card. His opponent will be German Eduard Gutknecht (20(8)-1).

I wrote last week about Tyson Fury hopefully fighting Lennox Lewis conqueror Hasim Rahman. Unfortunately this intriguing match up is now dead in the water and this has brought massive disappointment to many boxing fans.

And finally

So here is a talking point I’d like to leave you all on. I am hearing reports that Kell Brook is looking for a fight with Matthew Hatton. Who wins? Discuss bellow.
