Image: Pacquiao training hard for Mosley - perhaps too hardBy Dave Lahr: Manny Pacquiao has reportedly been training hard for his fight against 39-year-old Shane Mosley and has had one of his best training camps ever according to his trainer Freddie Roach. However, Roach has had to slow Pacquiao down in his training because he’s going overboard with his training an doing too much. There is a fine line between training well and training too much and Pacquiao may go over it with this fight and leave his his best in the training camp. I don’t like this. Pacquiao is going overboard with the training for this one. He must be really worried.

The danger here is that Pacquiao could come out listless against Mosley due to his excessive training and end up getting beaten. It’s happened before and Pacquiao is getting up there in age now that he’s 32.

Roach said this at sportinglife.com: “We started in the mountains in the first day of training and he’s [Pacquiao] consistently trying to kill his body. He ran yesterday for an hour and 10 minutes…He does 16 rounds a day on the mitts right now and I’m going to start holding him back a little bit. That’s the hardest part of Manny Pacquiao – Slowing him down.”

There it is. Pacquiao is working himself to the bone to get ready for this fight. He must be worried for Pacquiao to be exercising so excessively. I’m not sure what it is. Maybe he’s worried about how bad he’ll look to get beaten by someone as old as Mosley or maybe Pacquiao is worried about the gravy train ending if he gets spanked by Mosley. Goodness knows, Pacquiao is going to look bad if he gets beaten because of how shot Mosley has been looking. But who cares? It’s all good. Pacquiao can get his rematch, make bank and hopefully Roach can get Pacquiao to ease up on the training for the rematch.
