By Chris Williams: 39-year-old Shane Mosley is daring Manny Pacquiao to try and knock him out on May 7th when they tangle at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mosley wants Pacquiao to try and punch with him because this would give Mosley perhaps his only chance of beating the Filipino star. If Pacquiao moves around a lot and hits and runs, which is something that his trainer Freddie Roach has been talking about Pacquiao doing, then Mosley will have problems.
In an article by John Martinez at boxscorenews.com, Mosley said “I want him [Pacquiao] to come and get me. I dare him to come and try and knock me out like Freddie says they are going to do.”
Mosley would be better off not giving advice because by saying this it’s only going to make Roach turn around and tell Pacquiao to not mix it up with Mosley. Of course, Pacquiao has a way of getting into wars even when it’s against his best interests. If Mosley can lure Pacquiao into some rough exchanges in every round, Mosley may be able to cut Pacquiao over his eyes. Pacquiao doesn’t fight well when cut and that would give Mosley a good chance of scoring an upset or possibly a cut stoppage.
It’s going to look strange for Pacquiao to be running from a fighter that is about to turn 40, though. I hope Pacquiao doesn’t run because it won’t look good and all the people that are paying big money to watch him fight won’t be too pleased either. A lot of fans will be seeing Pacquiao fight for the first time because of the fight being advertised on CBS. Pacquiao has got to at least fight Mosley or else he’s going to stink up the joint on May 7th.
