By Allen Hmiel: A huge alarming omission in the fluctuating popularity generated fickle boxing Ring P4P ratings is why aren’t Wladimir (55-3-0 49 KO’s) and Vitali (43-2-0 38 KO’s) Klitschko rated at the top of the list? Both fighters and Heavyweight title holders have maintained stellar careers over 15 years beating everyone in their path in a destructive almost perfect dismantling embarrassing manner. Warriors in the ring and gentleman outside of the ring the skilled systematic Klitschko brothers have been great talented examples of how a champion should act in and out of the competitive demanding sport of boxing at the highest level.

The P4P list has seen many fighters come and go some with questionable skills whose popularity or lack of it seem to get them ranked instead of sustained proven skilled boxing performance. I am scratching my head in amazement over the latest P4P system.

The current Ring magazine list has glaring question marks in the Top Six ranked fighters.

Pacquiao-Mayweather-Donaire-Martinez and Marquez and what ever is a Wonjongkam. Why wouldn’t both Wlad and Vitali be right behind Pacquiao or ranked 1 & 2 respectively since Pacquiao seems to be fighting used washed up tailored made ready to fall opponents? Mayweather doesn’t fight so get him the heck out of the rankings completely. Donaire looks like a ten year old school kid with little fanfare or following is ranked third. Martinez throws a wild looping left that lands on the human stick figure Paul Williams and puts the emaciated looking Williams in dreamland. Marquez gets dismantled and humiliated by Mayweather over twelve rounds in a disgrace exhibition of inadequate boxing ability and he is ranked fifth? And whatever and whoever is Wonjongham is ranked 6th.

The most popular championship belt to hold in the boxing world is that of heavyweight champion. Both Wladimir and Vitali have sustained an impeccable and brutal reign at the top of the heavyweights for years. Stellar records and supreme boxing skills have enabled both brothers to completely dominate the heavyweight rankings and force other pretenders to evade fighting the explosive powerful Klitschkos. Why Wladimir and Vitali aren’t ranked 1 & 2 is amazing for all that they have accomplished in destroying all competition young and old alike.

It’s time now for the boxing fans to realize that the P4P rankings currently promoted are nothing more than a biased popularity contest fluctuating on an ongoing fickle system that makes little sense. Give the Klitschko’s their due respect and rank them in the top 5 at least if not 1&2 in either order. They have earned the right to be called champions and they have sustained and maintained their reputations as the best fighters in the world today. Wlad and Vitali could go down in time as the two best heavyweight ever if they maintain this complete domination and superiority over all competition.
Anyone can rank a fighter but the true champions like Wladimir and Vitali prove themselves over time that their level of perfection in outclassing their division opponents enables them to climb the podium to the top. I am not saying the brothers right now are amongst the best heavyweights of all time but it don’t take long to call the roll. Current P4P rankings need and warrant both of these superbly classy talents boxing masters included in the top 3.
