Lets start by clearing that neither Alvarez or Hatton are responsible of the decisions that their promoters make, so it is not fair to blame “Canelo” or “Magic.”

If there is some one the reader should blame it would be the greedy promoters boxing practice or the sanctioning boxing organizations. It is not new to see a couple of fighters disputing a vacant title without been ranked in the division, or to see that high ranked fighters are overlooked.

Lets be fair and recognize that the winner of this championship bout will have to defend his title against the number one ranked in his next fight, so if the winner has no quality will end up loosing his manufactured title against the number one contender; but until then give them the chance to be considered as the real champion.

Ladies and gentlemen, boxing fans around the world, as all you know this has been done in the past more than once. Recently Congressman Manny Pacman Pacquiao was allowed to do so, and he never received so much criticism for doing so when he fought against Margarito (vacant WBC light middleweight title).

Welterweight champion Andre Berto has not faced any legitimate contender in his last title defenses, why didn’t he was forced to fight against Alvarez? Saul promoters fail to sign a contract with the WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko, and it appears that the IBF champion Jan Zaveck was not interested to fight against Alvarez; so if this opportunity appears then both fighters must take it, the winner will have the chance to prove he is a worthy champion against Rhodes or Angulo (as most bloggers suggest) in a near future for sure.

This is boxing, it isn’t perfect, has never been and probably will never be perfect, but still is fun. If you want to see a real boxing competition attend to an amateur tournament, you can watch the Olympic Games and still won’t be satisfied due the judge’s decisions.

Perhaps catch weight fights will be more common than before but it won’t be a new trend, a championship fight must be fought at the limits of the weight division (147 – 154) but if both fighters agree to a reasonable catch weight then lets accept it as it is. If you don’t like catch weight fights then make the promoter acknowledge your discomfort.

“Canelo” Alvarez (WBC silver light middleweight) and “Magic” Hatton (EBU welterweight) are hungry for fame and glory, let us not spoil their time to shine; sure both aren’t as talented as Roberto Duran or Pernell Whitaker but they have talent, let’s just give them the chance to prove it.
