Image: Solis unable to look Vitali in the eyes during face-off: This doesn't look good for OdlanierBy Dan Ambrose: In an ominous sign that things may not go well for him, unbeaten contender Odlanier Solis (17-0, 12 KO’s) isn’t able to face WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (41-2, 38 KO’s) during their press conferences together when the reporters ask Solis to face Vitali in a traditional face off. Solis looks completely intimidated by Vitali and is instead keeping his face away from Vitali.

This is a bad sign for Solis because he already has a number of things going against him in this fight with lack of size. Solis also hasn’t taken enough weight judging by how big he’s looking in the recent press conference with Vitali. Solis looks to be at least in the 250s if not 260, and that’s about 50 to 60 pounds too heavy for the Cuban to have any chance in winning this fight. Solis was at his best at 200 pounds back in 2004 when he won a gold medal in the 2004 Olympics while fighting for Cuba.

Solis says “Talk is cheap. You don’t win fights with your tongue, you win them with your fists in the ring.” That sounds like an excuse from Solis for not having anything to say. He seems completely tongue-tied when around Vitali and can’t seem to utter word. I think the battle is already lost for Solis, because he doesn’t seem confident at all. This isn’t a case of Miguel Cotto, who also had problems standing eye to eye with his 38-year-old opponent Ricardo Mayorga recently. Vitali is the much bigger and better fighter here. Being unable to stand and look Vitali in the eyes during a face off is a bad sign. It tells you that Solis is intimidated.
