Prediction: Solis to come in at a fat 253 and will be obliterated by Vitali

By Scott Gilfoid: I’m a pretty good judge of fat on a person and in looking at heavyweight Odlanier Solis’ photos from a couple of days ago in his last press conference with WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (41-2, 38 KO’s), my estimate of Solis’ current weight is right in the neighborhood of the mid 250s. To be exact, I’m guessing he weighs exactly 253 for his fight against Vitali on Saturday. That’s about 50 pounds too much blubber for the smallish 6’1″ former 2004 Olympic heavyweight Gold Medalist Solis to have any chance at beating Vitali in this fight.

We’re talking too much fat on a small fighter. Solis may have won a gold medal eons ago, but that was at heavyweight, not in the super heavyweight class in the Olympics. Believe me, there’s a huge difference between heavyweight and super heavyweight in the Olympics. Solis should have kept his weight down and fought as a cruiserweight in the pro ranks because he doesn’t have the size to beat Vitali and he has no chance in this fight.

The only thing left to guess is which round Vitali will be destroying the blubbery Solis. My guess is Vitali will take him out in the 7th in a one-sided mismatch. I do think Solis is good enough to beat WBA heavyweight champion David Haye, but then again, Haye isn’t a big heavyweight either and is really just a bulked cruiserweight who has taken the soft tract in the heavyweight division by taking on fighters in their late 30s like 39-year-old Audley Harrison, 38-year-old John Ruiz, 38-year-old Monte Barrett and 36-year-old Nikolay Valuev. I would give Solis an excellent chance at beating Haye. But as far as beating Vitali, Solis doesn’t have a chance in a million. Too small, too fat and too weak to get the job done.
