Image: Tyson Fury says "I can be just like Lennox Lewis"By William Mackay: Undefeated Tyson Fury (13-0, 9 KO’s) sees big things from himself in the future, which goes beyond tonight’s fight against unbeaten Brazilian Marcelo Luiz Nascimento (13-0, 11 KO’s) in their fight at the Wembley Arena, Wembley, London. Fury, 22, is stepping it up against one of his better opponents since turning pro in 2008.

“I am never going to avoid fighting anyone, even when I fulfill my dream of becoming undisputed heavyweight champion of the world,” Fury said in an article a the dailystar.co.uk. “I can be just like Lennox Lewis. I am athletic and talented and I aim to give boxing the shot in the arm that it deserves…He’s in great shape and with his height it’s not hard to see where his punching power comes from. He is a really tough opponent.”

This is kind of amusing because Fury is struggling against domestic level heavyweights like John McDermott, and here Fury is comparing himself with Lewis. It’s hard to imagine Lewis having problems with a fighter like McDermott any point in Lewis’ career, whether amateur or at the very start of his career. Lewis always had a huge right and left hook that would be too much for guys like McDermott. Right now, I wouldn’t even consider comparing Fury with a guy like Lewis. Fury is more like a Michael Grant or Tye Fields in my view. He’s maybe a little better or a little worse. We’ll find that out soon enough, but right now I don’t see Fury being anything like Lewis or even lesser heavyweights.
