Jose “Olivarito” Morales, Erik’s father and trainer believes that whoever loses the fight should leave boxing for good. Erik Morales is taking the fight with the utmost seriousness; he wants to give fans the best fight possible. Morales is on the way to his training camp located in the Otomi Native-American ceremonial center high in the mountains of Central Mexico, he wants the best physical condition.

Juan Manuel Marquez is near retirement and wants to fight only for big million dollar figure pay days, but outside of Manny Pacquiao only a fight with Erik Morales could land Marquez that kind of money right now. Marquez and Morales will be fighting for the diamond belt of the World Boxing Council (WBC); it is valued at fifty thousand dollars. Only Manny Pacquiao has won this diamond belt until now.

The outcome of the fight is already clear amongst fans, who consider Erik Morales a shadow of his old self. Yet the fight is generating interest because although Erik Morales is not the same, he will be able to put up a fight for at least 3 rounds, also the curiosity of watching Marquez fight and beat Morales is too much for fans to pass up. One thing is for sure, this fight will be a whole lot more exciting than the recent sleeper between Timothy Bradley vs. Devon Alexander.

Marquez vs. Morales will not go the distance, don’t expect that, these two will come to fight, Morales will be furiously fighting to win for about three or four rounds, but eventually only Marquez will be launching punches, landing vicious combinations and rib cracking uppercuts without a response from Morales, until the referee steps in to stop it. Then Erik Morales should keep his father’s advice and retire for good.
