Prescott: Khan realizes I would knock him out if we fought again

By Scott Gilfoid: It’s funny how WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) is clearly running from former conqueror Breidis Prescott (23-2, 19 KO’s) rather than manning up and trying to avenge his earlier defeat to Prescott. This isn’t lost on Prescott, who came out today with a press release, saying “What does it tell you that he’d go around me, the man who beat him, to instead face a much lighter hitting and unknown fighter he thinks he can beat. Obviously Amir Khan and his team realize I would knock him out of we fought again.”

I totally agree with Mr. Prescott. I think he would obliterate Khan even easier than he did the first time they fought. God, it was ugly last time. It was so embarrassingly easy for Prescott to beat the glass-chinned Khan. Prescott had Khan in trouble from the earliest moments with a jab to the head that staggered Khan.

It didn’t even matter than Khan took a couple of backwards steps. Prescott was right there with hooks coming from both sides and he quickly chopped Khan down and left him in a heap on the canvas flat on his back with eyes briefly shut tight. And now instead of showing the boxing world that he’s unafraid of trying to avenge his defeat, Khan is looking to fight the weak punching Paul McCloskey, who can’t punch his way out of a wet paper bag. This is the perfect cherry picking move if I ever saw one. It’s so sad and so transparent. I wonder what Khan’s loving Brit fans think of him. My guess they approve of Khan ducking Prescott. How bad is that.

Prescott knocked Khan out in 54 seconds of the first round in 2008. And ever since then, as far as I can tell, Khan has never come close to fighting Prescott to show what he’s worth.
