Let’s all just forget Haye vs. the Klitschko’s… For now!

By Jon Neale: Will they, won’t they? Who care’s… Well, we do, don’t we. You like me must be bored to tears of the verbal tennis match that has been going on for 2+ years between David Haye and Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko… Enough! Please.

I for one (being the cynic I am) believe this is an ongoing ploy to market the fight that will eventually happen between 1st David and Wlad and then (should David win) between David and Vitali. The problem with the Heavyweight scene is a lack of decent competitors. America historically has supplied the majority of Heavyweight fighters but due to earning potential in other sporting arenas and a downturn in interest along with meteoric rise in popularity of the UFC/MMA Stateside we are witnessing a period in History where America can boast NO solid Heavyweight contenders (Eddie Chambers included). So what to do…?

As we all know Boxing is heavily influenced by money (no shock there I know), if you have a legitimate Heavyweight fight, but only 2 potential fights on the horizon as there are no apparent ‘New Stars’ coming through the ranks at this time, what do you do? You draw out the process as long as you can, in the meantime frustrating the fans something rotten, but with the intention of building the eventual occasion into something huge. There’s no such thing as bad press, well, if you were to take all the bad press inches written about these potential fights you’d reach the moon. When (not if) David Haye fights the brothers Klitschko you can expect all parties involved from the fighters themselves, The promoters, TV, Sponsors and anyone and everyone else who can, to be seriously ‘cashing in’ as they will all hope to score their biggest possible payday’s! Because let’s face it, the future of Heavyweight boxing looks pretty grim once these fights are out of the way!

So fight fans, do not fear. This fight will happen. Once the money men feel they have maximized potential earning we WILL see Haye vs. the Klitschko’s (Sorry brothers, I meant The Klitschko’s vs Haye – I know you like to have your name’s first!).
