By Daniel Tagg: World Boxing Association (WBA) light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) has ambitions of becoming a big name in boxing and has dreams of dominating each weight category that he fights in. Whilst Khan’s name drops left, right and center , other fighters are doing the same towards Khan. Prime examples are Devon Alexander, Timothy Bradley, Breidis Prescott and Kell Brook. Amongst these top fighters surely Khan will have to fight at least one of them, how many of these fighters will beat Khan.

If Khan does what WBA heavyweight champion David Haye has been doing and doesn’t fight any of those fighters on that list, then the world will lose any respect they may have had for him. Khan has great hand speed but that is it. He is being taught how to cover up and move around the ring. This was quite evident in Khan’s recent win over Marcos Maidana last December.

Khan will have to fight the big names and he will have to beat almost all of them if he wants to remain one of the big names in boxing. I think khan can beat some of if not all of those other fighters if he does the same thing as he did against Maidana, quick flurries and move away.

The top of Amir’s list of fighters he wishes to fight is the on and only Floyd Mayweather. Floyd is unlike any other top fighter on the planet. His defense was unquestionably the finest, but recently it has become less effective, in his (Floyd) fight against Shane Mosley Floyd was nearly floored on a couple of occasions. The speed of Mosley’s power punches combined with Floyd’s slightly diminished defense was the cause. The reason for me mentioning this is Floyd’s only opponent who posses speed nearly beat him, but due to Mosley being old and tiring through out the rest of the fight.

Khan is possibly the fastest puncher on the planet and he would cause Mayweather problems. I don’t think Khan will destroy him. I think this will be one of the fights that will be great to watch. It will be competitive and thrilling up to the last bell. If Khan can beat Mayweather then he will become the 2nd best fighter p4p.

What will Amir Khan do next? The world awaits.
