Is Haye serious about wanting to fight Vitali Klitschko or is he just name dropping to get attention?

By William Mackay: It’s hard to believe WBA heavyweight champion David Haye is honestly interested in facing WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko given how Haye has bailed in the past when given opportunities to fight Vitali and his brother IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.

It’s like the boy that cried wolf one too many times and no believed him anymore. Haye has had the chance to fight the Klitschkos multiple times, yet he’s failed to make it in the ring when the fights were on his door step. This is why it’s so hard to believe what Haye’s trainer/manager Adam Booth is saying about Haye wanting to fight Vitali.

You naturally just assume that Haye isn’t serious about wanting to really face Vitali and is just using his name to get attention in the media. It’s not particularly interesting to hear about Haye fighting Ruslan Chagaev his mandatory challenger. No one cares about that fight except Haye’s loyal fans, and it’s unlikely Haye will even fight him.

Booth said this in an article at the telegraph:

“The Wladimir Klitschko fight is dead in the water. He didn’t want it, simple as that, but David Haye’s career does not revolve around him. Unlike all the 50-odd opponents who Wladimir has fought, David is not going to sit around waiting for him.”

All Wladimir wanted was to fight a tune-up before his proposed July 2nd fight with Haye, and that was enough for Haye to run off in the next direction. It didn’t take much for Haye to bail on the fight.
