Image: Why doesn't Pacquiao stand up on his hind legs and tell Arum he wants to fight Marquez?By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao is ultimately the one that picks and chooses who he fights. His promoter Bob Arum may give him some suggestions, such as the hints that he should fight his Top Rank stable fighters from time to time, but Pacquiao can always say no. This is why I don’t understand why Pacquiao doesn’t stand up and say no to fighters that Arum offers up like Margarito, Clottey and now 39-year-old Shane Mosley. If the idea is for Pacquao to face the best fighters to enhance his legacy and take the paper out of his paper titles, then he needs to take on guys like Juan Manuel Marquez or Andre Berto instead of a fading fighter like Mosley.

It’s going to be up to Pacquiao whether he fights Mosley or not. It’s looking like Arum is eager for Pacquiao to face Mosley because he sees him as having the most recognizable name among hardcore and casual boxing fans. Hardcore fans know Marquez just as much as Mosley, and I think you’ll find few of them that want to see Pacquiao beat up on a faded Mosley.

Shane looks like he can’t fight hard for more than two or three rounds nowadays without fading badly and going into a state of exhaustion for the remainder of the fight. It’s ridiculous that he’s going to be the next one that Pacauiao faces, because he’s been fighting these catch weights lately and when not fighting catch weight fights, he’s facing guys like Clottey, who was just happy to be there and did nothing in the way of actual fighting.
