Is Mosley shot enough for Pacquiao to beat him?

By Dave Lahr: Manny Pacquiao better hope that Shane Mosley is totally shot for their fight on May 7th, because if he has at least 75% of what he used to have of his ability, he’s going to thrash the little Filipino and send him home in pieces. In his prime, Mosley was a much better fighter than Pacquiao could ever even dream of. It’s disappointing that Pacquiao hasn’t fought Mosley until now when he’s showing serious signs of being a 100% shot fighter.

But, God, I’m hoping that Mosley can somehow reach back to at least get some of his ability back so he can knock Pacquiao around the ring and humiliate him in front of the entire civilized world. Why Pacquiao waited this long to fight Mosley is beyond me. If he’s the so called pound for pound fighter, why didn’t Pacquiao fight Mosley years ago when he was still cogent.

Now it’s like a cherry picking move where you got a fighter that’s the equivalent of a wounded lamb and you’re pick him off like a vulture. That’s not even sporting. How about Pacquiao fight Sergio Martinez, eh? What about that fight? Pacquiao would get destroyed but it would be fun to watch because he’d be fighting someone that’s not shot, mediocre or coming off savage career altering beating like some of his recent opponents.

Okay, so I want Mosley to attack Pacquiao and fire howitzer shots down his gizzard and and create some blood early on. What Mosley has to do is get Pacquiao against the ropes and basically pin him there the way that Bernard Hopkins and Andre Ward like to do. Once Pacquiao is trapped, then Mosley needs to savage him with uppercuts, shots to the side of the head and rip at his vulnerable eyes. Pacquiao can’t fight a lick once he’s cut around the eyes.

It’s like Samson after he gets his hair cut. Pacquiao suddenly gets weak, and keeps dabbing at his cut eye all the time instead of just fighting like an animal. So Mosley has got to first trap Manny against the ropes and then work his eyes with shots until the blood is flowing. Once he’s cut, the fight is going to get a lot easier from there. Mosley will have to keep Pacquiao there the whole fight because Mosley’s legs are gone due to his advanced age. But he’s certainly good enough to mug Pacquiao for 12 rounds and cut to him to ribbons.
