Haye should forget about the Klitschkos

Image: Haye should forget about the KlitschkosBy Dave Lahr: WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) is wasting his time trying to get a fight with IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) and should just move on to fighting whoever he wants. The latest news is that Haye and his trainer/manager Adam Booth have offered Klitschko a 50-50 split of the revenue, which is what Klitschko and his manager Bernd Boente had been asking. But instead of getting them to agree on a fight, Boente is saying no deal. I say forget about fighting either of the Klitschkos.

Haye needs to move on and fight his mandatory challenger Ruslan Chagaev. Maybe after beating him, the Klitschkos will come back to the bargaining table with a different attitude. If not, Haye has plenty of good opponents for him to fight for big money like Bernard Hopkins or Tomasz Adamek. If I’m Haye, I would tell Klitschko and Boente to get lost and focus on fighting Adamek or Hopkins. Once Klitschko realizes he blew it, he’ll come back ready to give Haye whatever he asks for. Haye doesn’t need this fight to make big money. He’s got it made as it is with his huge pay-per-view set up in the UK. Fighting the Klitschkos isn’t even needed for him to make big bank. Let Wladimir fight Dereck Chisora and get his back side handed to him. Vitali will probably lose his next fight to mandatory challenger Odlanier Solis, so these guys will be history soon enough as it is. Haye can do better than this.
