Bernd Boente is getting in the way of Haye vs. Wladimir Klitschko

Image: Bernd Boente is getting in the way of Haye vs. Wladimir KlitschkoBy Mark Hepplestall: Today a breaking news report on Sky Sports News heard that David Haye and Adam Booth are willing to put all of the money from American TV, and British PPV into a 50 – 50 split with Wladimir Klitschko. But once again the skeptics are out in numbers wondering who will pull out of the fight first, whose fault it is for past fights not to have materialized and discussions on who is responsible for the Klitschko vs. Haye fight not materializing. Well I say neither of the boxers are to blame for the fight not materializing, the real villain is Bernd Boente (Wladimir Klitschko’s Manager).

In an interview with The Guardian Booth said “I have been negotiating with Bernd Boente, and two days ago I offered him a 50-50 split of everything, including the British pay-per-view money, and that the fight could be on RTL [the German TV station] and could be held anywhere they wanted to make the most revenue, including in Germany.”

Now unfortunately all negotiating for a Wladimir Klitschko fight goes through his manager Bernd Boente and Boente has been back in touch with Haye and Booth saying “No point continuing. Forget about it. You do your fight and we’ll do ours.” When people questioned Bernd Boente about his comments he said “Adam Booth is talking complete nonsense.”

It’s obvious that the truth is defiantly in the middle and maybe Wladimir Klitschko should come out and say what is going on as he is copied into all of the emails. My only worry is that Boente does not want to negotiate with Haye as he thinks he can get a better deal out of a possible fight with Tomasz Adamek who is fighting in March/April, people think Sam Peter is the opponent yet I find this hard to believe as he doesn’t have a promoter since being dropped by Top Rank after the beating Wladimir gave him last time out. Now Wladimir is out for 4 weeks and looks unwilling to fight Chisora which gives him a great 3 months of training before a fight which fits in very well with Adamek’s fight timescale.

If this is true and Adamek is fighting Wladimir instead it answers a lot of questions about who is pulling the strings and who is duckng who. If Wladimir does fight an opponent that is not Haye we can conclude that either Wladimir doesn’t want to fight Haye or he is trying to get out of his current RTL TV deal.

Lastly I would like to point out even though I would like to see this fight I don’t think it will ever happen for a number of reasons including Team Klitschko are asking too much including a 50 – 50 split of Haye’s PPV money keeping his RTL money which is his exclusively, wanting the fight in Germany instead of USA, UK or a neutral venue, this is important because you just need to look at German based boxers including Huck, Valuev, and Abraham who seem to win close decisions by unbelievable wide margins. Lastly these guys including Boente have unbelievably huge egos and all have a lot to lose in this fight. If Haye loses his career is over, Wladimir can come again like he has before but his legacy will be ruined and Boente is only in it for the money, he doesn’t care about anybody but himself.

Only time will tell us the truth but we only need to wait until Wladimir and Boente sign a contract and then we now their intentions.
