Image: Pacquiao will lose to Margarito if he's as easy to hit as he was against ClotteyBy Chris Williams: In taking a second look at Manny Pacquiao’s bout against Joshua Clottey last March, I have to say that Pacquiao won’t stand a chance against Antonio Margarito next Saturday if he’s as hittable and stationary as he was against Clottey. I’m hoping for Pacquiao that he doesn’t try and trade with Margarito, because he simply doesn’t have the frame and the chin to take the kind of shots that Margarito will be pounding him with. And I don’t think Pacquiao can handle the body shots from Margarito either. I know Pacquiao isn’t considered about taking body shots, but he will be once Margarito starts tagging him to the body.

None of Pacquiao’s sparring partners have given him the kind of working over that Margarito will be if he decides to stand and trade with the Mexican warrior. The only way that Pacquiao win this fight is if he jumps around all night long and hits and runs. As slow and lethargic as Pacquiao looked against Clottey, I have my doubts that he can still fight like that.

Pacquiao tried to fight like that for two or three rounds and then started to tire and became stationary. In all the sparring footage I’ve seen from Pacquiao in the HBO 24/7 Pacquiao/Margarito episodes, Pacquiao looks too heavy and isn’t moving like he used to. I really don’t think Pacquiao has the wheels to carry around all that useless muscle that he’s put on with his exercising and constant eating and drinking weight gaining milkshakes. Without movement, Pacquiao is going to be nothing more than another Miguel Cotto late in the fight ready to be taken out by Margarito. Pacquiao is too small, and not used to getting hit in his fights. By being matched cleverly, he’s been able to beat guys without taking punishment. Margarito will hit him hard and I don’t know that Pacquiao will be able to handle it.
