Image: Haye vs. Harrison on Saturday nightBy Daniel Tagg: The hype has done its job for the upcoming British clash between World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight champion David Haye (24-1, 22 KO’s) and his 39-year-old challenger Audley Harrison (27-4, 20 Ko’s) for their fight this Saturday night at the M.E.N. Arena, in Manchester, England. There is now some interest to see the match up but this fight never should have happened but it has and we can only hope that Audley somehow wins.

Boxing has had promises from Haye in the past only to be let down time after time. Look at Haye’s record. He has rarely fought anyone of worth and yet he has many people convinced he will dominate boxing and fight the Klitschko’s, neither of which is likely to happen. If Audley wins it will be good for boxing. He will surely have the balls to fight a Klitschko. Harrison will then subsequently lose and then things will get back to normal.

I see this fight on Saturday as a warm up fight for the Manny Pacquiao vs. Antonio Margarito bill, which takes place on the same night in a different location. I think Haye will beat Harrison, but who knows what can happen. If Haye does defeat Harrison, he will have a very tough mandatory challenger by the name of Ruslan Chagaev. I’m sure that would be a good fight but I don’t know if Haye would take the fight. Haye will likely face another lower level opponent if possible and then retire next year without having faced either of the Klitschko brothers.
