However, Klitschko has narrowed it down to British/Commonwealth heavyweight champion Derek Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) and EBU heavyweight champion Alexander Dimitrenko (30-1, 20 KO’s). Klitschko’s manager Bernd Boente said if Klitschko can’t arrange a fight with either Dimitrenko or Chisora, then they will attempt to put together a fight with 38-year-old former WBC cruiserweight champion Jean Marc Mormeck (35-4, 22 KO’s) of France.

Let’s hope that Klitschko and arrange a fight with either Chisora or Dimitrenko, because a bout with Mormeck would likely be a tremendous mismatch due to Mormeck’s lack of size and advantaged age. Mormeck has fought twice at heavyweight in the past year, beating Vinny Maddalone and Fres Oquendo by decision and looking mediocre in both fights. His win over Oquendo, which took place in France, was controversial, as many boxing fans felt that Oquendo should have easily won the fight.

Dimitrenko, a 6’7″ heavyweight from Ukraine, has fought only once since losing a 12 round majority decision to Eddie Chambers in July 2009. Dimitrenko looked out of his class in that fight and was battered on the inside in the 2nd half of the fight and knocked down once. Although Dimitrenko has great athletic skills, he lacks power and he tends to cover up on the inside and take punishment. He would likely be destroyed by Wladimir if they were to fight. He could make it interesting if he keeps the fight on the outside, because he has a good jab and left hook. However, he’s nowhere near the same puncher as Wladimir and he would be under constant bombardment from Klitschko.

The knock on Chisora is his lack of fights, in particular quality fights. He’s fought only 14 times against the likes of Danny Williams and Sam Sexton. Given that neither of those fighters are anywhere close to being as good as Wladimir Klitschko, it would suggest that Chisora has virtually no chance of beating Klitschko or even being competitive with him. However, it’s a fight that would help Wladimir because it would give him more visibility in the UK for a future fight against WBA heavyweight champion David Haye. Chisora is undersized at heavyweight, standing only 6’1″, and lacks hand speed and big power. He would likely be blown out by Wladimir within six rounds even if he fights defensively the entire time. If Chisora presses the fight, he’ll likely be blown out in two or three rounds at best. Chisora is still very green and has a massive amount of flaws in his game and some of them – his lack of power and hand speed – ones that he’ll likely never be able to fix.
