Brandon Rios impressed with Margarito’s training for Pacquiao bout

By Chris Williams: Unbeaten lightweight contender Brandon Rios (25-0-1, 18 KO’s) is very impressed with what he’s seen of junior middleweight contender Antonio Margarito (38-6, 27 KO’s) as he trains Oxnard, California for his bout next month against Manny Pacquiao on November 13th. In an article at vstar.com, Rios says this about Margarito: “The way he goes non-stop, it’s impressive. When we run he’s a beast. I can keep up with him at the start, but about 30 minutes after we start, he leaves me in the dust. I pick up some moves, like when (Margarito) throws those beautiful upper cuts. When I see the way he fights inside, I watch because I fight inside too. It’s cool having him around.”

This is one of the reasons why Margarito is so difficult to fight. He trains so hard at such a fast pace, that it allows him to throw 100 punches per round and where his opponents down. He often gets to them in the later rounds with his fast pace.

In contrast, Pacquiao doesn’t appear to be working as hard in his training camp, skipping practices, visiting political figures, going on long drives, playing basketball at night, coming to training tired looking. It seems like Pacquiao is taking Margarito for granted for some reason. I guess all the people that have been blowing smoke up Pacquiao’s backside for months telling him how great he is and he’s going to easily beat Margarito has crept into Pacquiao’s mind and caused him to slack off compared to his other training camps.

I think Pacquiao is going to lose because of this. Mark my words, Pacquiao is going to lose this fight because he’s not working hard enough and Margarito is training like a beast for this fight. I just hope that Margarito doesn’t beat Pacquiao too badly. I’d really like to see a rematch between them and if Pacquiao gets hospitalized and damaged permanently, like with neurological problems, then we won’t see a rematch. Pacquiao will have to retire.

I don’t want the beating to be too bad. I hope Margarito can end this fight quickly so Pacquiao doesn’t have to suffer too much. This is what the Filipino gets for not training like a dog like Margarito. You got to do the work if you want to stay at the top. Margarito made that mistake in training for his fight with Shane Mosley. He didn’t work hard and ended up losing. Now it’s Pacquiao’s turn to take his beating and learn an important lesson.
