BoxRec Boxing Records – A tribute to a fine piece of work

By Adam Fillingham: BoxRec is currently one of the most visited websites on my internet history and is also used by boxing fans and experts alike. First created in 1995 by fellow Brit John Sheppard, it now gets an average of 50,000 views per day!

BoxRec has helped me over the years to write many articles, giving me stats, facts, records and dates to help me keep all of my articles 100% correct. The website has also helped me as a fan and many other fans including my friends. Many a time have I scoured the many fighters listed in the database and gotten lost for long periods of time.

Over the 15 years it has been running it has advanced and advanced and even with all its little hiccups (including the Ricardo Mayorga record which had errors for quite some time). The website now has a dedicated team of over 120 volunteers.

BoxRec also has its own ranking system which is based on a computer points system. Love it or hate it as some people do, other than the P4P rankings which may need a little tuning I think the ratings are very similar to what I would pick myself.

Boxing Records news helps me and many other people keep up to date with the worlds boxing news and also gives me great coverage of local fights in the UK which some other boxing news websites do not give.

My final pro point for BoxRec is that it is one of few websites that includes female boxing. This is great for the sport itself. There are many fans of the female fight scene and it does not get the same coverage as the males. BoxRec gives people the opportunity to find out about the sport.

So as you can see I am a big fan of BoxRec and I think all fans should use the website if you are in need to enhance your knowledge or just to find out something new.

Thank you for reading.
