Image: The Pacquiao-Margarito media tour starts on August 31stBy Eric Thomas: Now that Antonio Margarito has received his boxing license today by the Texas Athetic Commission, Margarito and Manny Pacquiao, along with their promoter Bob Arum, an start to promote their November 13th fight. A three city media tour starts on August 31st, beginning in Beverly Hills, California. It will be at the Beverly Hills Hotel at 11 a.m. PT in the Rodeo room.

From there, the next stop is on September 1st at the Chelsea Piers in New York, starting at 11:30 a.m ET. The final stop is on September 3rd at the Cowboys Stadium, in Arlington, Texas, at 11:30 a.m.

This could be an interesting fight if Margarito is able to use his size and power to control the smaller 5’6” Pacquiao. For that to happen, Margarito will have to try to mix up his offense by boxing and slugging. He can’t afford to come out looking predictable because Pacquiao might be too quick early on in the fight. However, if Margarito can take Pacquiao deep, he may be able to wear him down with heavy shots and damage his face enough to where he can get the win. Pacquiao looked weary in his win over Joshua Clottey last March.

Although Pacquiao won the fight, the size and weight of Clottey appeared to have a wearing effect on Pacquiao. Margarito likely won’t be as heavy or as powerful as Clottey, but he can throw more shots than him. If Margarito can land at a high rate, he could wear the smaller Pacquiao down. After all, Pacquiao hasn’t had to take many shots in his fights in the past two years.

Clottey was able to connect with better shots than Pacquiao had been hit in a long while. If Margarito can stay in there long enough to connect with 40 punches per round out of a 100 thrown, there’s a good chance that Pacquiao won’t be able to take that kind of punishment and will fade.
