Image: Green has the talent to beat KesslerBy Scott Gilfoid: I think we may see another Pascal moment on September 25th when American Allan Green (29-2, 20 KO’s), a huge underdog, marches into the MCH Multiarena, in Herning, Denmark, and takes out the home star WBC super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (43-2, 32 KO’s) in shocking fashion in their Super Six tournament stage 3 fight. It won’t be the first time that Kessler got schooled in the tournament by an American. Kessler already got thrashed by the talented Andre Ward last November, and he’s probably still have nightmares about that brutal beating that Ward gave him.

Green, 30, may not have the inside fighting ability that Ward had going for him in his win over Kessler, but Green has the other same ingredients that Ward has – hand speed, power and boxing skills. All Green needs to do is increase his work rate, throw more jabs and attack Kessler like he’s done against the 2nd tier fighters that Green has feasted on during his eight year pro career. We already know that Green massive power and massive skills, but he just needs to make some minor tweaks in his game to get by Kessler in this fight.

The good thing that Green has going for him is that nobody thinks he can win against Kessler accept me. But I know Kessler like the back of my hand, and I’ve seen how much punishment he absorbed in his last two fights against Ward and Carl Froch, and I think Kessler is going to be coming into this fight like a wounded buffalo ready to be picked off by the young lion. Green just needs to average around 60 power punches per round and needs to stay on top of Kessler to get this win.

I can’t Kessler being able to withstand 12 rounds of having a huge puncher like Green nailing him over and over again. Green’s power will be key in this fight. Kessler has taken too much punishment in his last two fights, maybe a career’s worth, and he won’t be the same fighter he once was. And even he is, Green’s power and work rate will bury the Danish fighter. He’s not going to be able to handle those kinds of power shots for long.
