That’s no knock on the other fine contestants but rather an indication of how good Dirrell and Ward are compared to the others. Ward is going to make it tough on Dirrell, because he’s breezed effortlessly through his first two Super Six bouts, defeating Mikkel Kessler and Allan Green.

Dirrell, for his part, also has pretty much totally dominated his opposition, beating Arthur Abraham but losing one of the most controversial fights I’ve ever seen in my life to Carl Froch. I saw Dirrell winning the fight by the lopsided scores of 8 rounds to 3 with one even.

However, taking away the point the referee took away from Dirrell for holding, I saw Dirrell winning 9 rounds to 3. Whatever the case, Dirrell has looked sensational in both of his Super Six fights thus far and will be facing an opponent in Ward who has looked equally outstanding in his two fights.

With their incredible talent, Dirrell and Ward could end up cancelling each other out and ending up in a stalemate where neither fighter really wins. I think it could very well end up like that, because both Ward and Dirrell are so evenly matched in terms of boxing skills, power and hand speed.

Dirrell is clearly faster, but Ward is the better inside fighter and is more aggressive. But Dirrell doesn’t waste time fighting on the inside and he won’t allow another fighter to make him fight that way. This is why this fight could come down to whoever the better guy is on the outside.
