Image: Adamek vs. 1973 version of George Foreman: Who wins?By Scott Gilfoid: Okay, I saw the fight last night between Tomasz Adamek and Michael Grant, and I thought Adamek did a pretty good job under the circumstances. He really didn’t look that bad other than a few hard punches he took in the 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th. Adamek handled the situation pretty well after getting hit hard by Grant and got out of the way quick to avoid getting hit again. I think Adamek has a chance against the Klitschko brothers. I don’t give him a very good chance, but I think he still has a slim chance of beating one of them.

I’d give him a better chance of beating the slower Vitali Klitschko rather than Wladimir, because Vitali looks like he’s starting to deteriorate in his last couple of fights and is losing hand speed in a dramatic way all of a sudden. I think Adamek would absolutely destroy David Haye if given the chance. I’d love to see that. He probably won’t get a chance though. Haye’s going to fight Audley Harrison next. Oh boy.

The fight I’d like to see if it were possible would be a bout between Adamek and a young 25-year-old George Foreman. The same version of Foreman that wiped out Joe Frazier in 2 rounds in 1973. Would Adamek be able to pull a Muhammad Ali on Foreman and beat him with movement, combinations and a little bit of a rope-a-dope? If I hadn’t seen Adamek do a number on Grant, I would think Foreman would destroy him in no time flat. But I’m not so certain now.

I think Adamek, with his modern fighting style, would give a young Foreman all kinds of problems. Foreman wouldn’t be able to hit him. It would be a case of Adamek getting in and out to land his shots and scurry away before he’s hit by one of Foreman’s big uppercuts. But, if Adamek hands around too long or gets in close and gets tagged by Foreman, then I don’t think Adamek would be able to recover the same way he did on Saturday night against. Foreman would just obliterate Adamek.
