Froch, 32, will now be facing Abraham in Montreal, Canada, according to the Guardian. This is great news for boxing fans, who were wondering if Froch would pull out of the Super Six tournament if he was forced to fight Abraham in his adopted country of Germany.

Froch and his promoter Mick Hennessy were previously under the mistaken impression that Froch’s stage 3 bout was going to be taking place in Froch’s home city of Nottingham, England. Froch and Hennessey both said there had been a verbal agreement for Froch to fight Abraham there. However, Froch got the bad news that the actual contract for the fight said nothing about Froch fighting Abraham in Nottingham. Instead, the contract only said that the fight should take place in Europe.

Sauerland, Events, the promotional company for Abraham, tried to fight a suitable venue in Europe that Froch would agree to. However, Froch wouldn’t agree to any of the suggestions that Sauerland made until now. With the news that their fight with be held in Canada, Abraham and Froch can now get down to business of getting prepared for the fight.

Froch is a desperate situation where he can’t afford to lose if he wants to make it into the semifinals. Froch won his first fight of the Super Six tournament over American Andre Dirrell in a highly questionable 12 round split decision in Froch’s home city of Nottingham.

The two judges that scored the fight for Froch were European like Froch. In Froch’s second fight of the Super Six tournament, he lost a 12 round decision to Mikkel Kessler on April 24th. Froch thought he won the fight and believed he would have won the decision had the fight taken place in England. Few people felt that Froch won the fight, but many of them do agree that Froch would have likely won had the fight taken part in Froch’s home city of Nottingham.

Abraham lost his last fight to Dirrell by an 11th round disqualification after Abraham got a little careless and teed off on Dirrell with a big right hand after Dirrell slipped on the wet canvas.

Froch got hit an awful lot in his last fight with Kessler and ended up with two black eyes and a badly swollen up nose. Kessler staggered Froch once in the fight and controlled many of the rounds with his better work rate. Froch looked tired and let a lot of rounds get away from him by not throwing enough punches.

Abraham presents a real threat for Froch, because he likes to slug and that’s the wrong thing to do against a big puncher like Abraham. Froch has been staggered in both of his Super Six tournament fights and you have to wonder whether he’ll be able to take the big shots from Abraham without going down or stopped.
