The report states that Calzaghe approached Kessler through his agent about helping him in the Froch bout. Kessler says “I’ve only just heard about it, but I’m honored if Calzaghe will help me. If he has something to offer with any trick or idea, of course I am more than happy to listen.”

Kessler, 31, was defeated in his last fight by American Andre Ward by an 11 round technical decision in his first stage 1 Super Six bout on November 21st. Because of the one-sided nature of that fight, many people are thinking that Froch will beat Kessler and possibly stop him when they meet next month on April 24th in Herning, Denmark.

However, Kessler has the much better boxing skills compared to Froch and has to be considered as having an excellent chance of beating Froch and capturing his WBC super middleweight title. Kessler will be fighting in front of his home crowd in Demark, which should give Kessler a big boost for this fight.

Calzaghe, 37, hasn’t fought since ending his career with a 12 round decision over Roy Jones Jr. in November 2008. There has been speculation by some that Calzaghe might be tempted to come out of retirement against the winner of the Super Six tournament. Calzaghe hasn’t said anything about wanting to come, however, and says he content with his career.

Calzaghe has no love for Froch, and would like nothing better than to see Kessler beat him and thus get a certain degree of satisfaction out of it happening. If Calzaghe can actually help Kessler make that happen, that would likely be even better.
