Has the UFC Killed Boxing? – Pt 2

I could care less about if a guy is 50-0 or 16-5. I need to see him in with someone who is at his level. I am paying my hard earned money so at least they should be made to work for their money too. We always seem to get a 16-0 guy against a guy with more losses than a poor 3rd world country.

Of course, he will win and stay unbeaten but still not learning his trade an the moment he faces a decent fighter he loses and there goes a future star before he is developed.

The big guys avoid each other so much and ask for so much money that it is impossible to put together a decent undercard. Right now, UFC is fine but when they start paying top guys big money they will not be able to put on many great matches. But until then, they will kick boxing’s backside only in certain cases. They are yet to generate the big money like a Manny Pacquiao, Mike Tyson and Oscar De La Hoya.

I keep saying there are some people who write to this site who are fans of a boxer but not of the sport of boxing. When that guy is done, so are they. They get upset if anyone asks a searching question and accuse everyone of nationalism or racism. Maybe some people are because hostory says 10-15% of all people are in some way.

But if matchmakers put on good fights, boxing would be in the best health. I fear for boxing because the youths are turning to fast food, i.e. MMA. Yes, they use smaller gloves because they have to be able to grapple.

I hate when they stay on the floor so long but I also hate when guys do the same in boxing because they are old or out of shape. No one penalizes them so they keep doing it and they are killing boxing. Be fair, hugging is bad whether standing or on the ground, boxing need to get those guys out of the game. Clutch, grab, feint, run, grab, feint, elbow etc. It is boring to watch and must not be allowed just to win a fight.

The promoters and matchmakers MUST realize that they will be there long after the boxers retire so they must protect their sport. The boxers too must realize that if they do not fight and make it exciting, they will not get paid well. Besides their careers are not too long. The longer they avoid tough fights, the less $ they will make. We want to see fights and will no longer tp pay to see a superstar unless he fights at least another fighter who can give him a good fight.
