Setanta Sports is reporting that David Haye has suffered an injury to one of his hands while training for his June 20th fight with International Boxing Federation/World Boxing Organization heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko at the Veltins Arena, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Haye is looking to have the fight postponed for six to eight weeks while his hand injury heals.

Bild-Zeitung is reporting that Wladimir is looking at fighting another opponent on June 20th at the already sold out Veltins Arena in Germany. There will be more information later about who Wladimir can dig up as a replacement opponent.

After learning of Haye’s injury, Klitschko resisted firing on him, saying “I’m not one to throw garbage at a man who’s down, although if it was the other way around I’m sure he [Haye] would do this,” according to the Guardian’s website.

The injury for Haye must be really disappointing for him, because he had talked his way into the title fight with Klitschko and looked to have had a golden opportunity to show off his talents – or lack thereof – in front of a huge world stage. As things are now, if the fight with Klitschko isn’t rescheduled at for a later date, it would mean that Haye would have to work his way into a title shot by fighting a top contender or two in the heavyweight division, and that’s not something I think he’s capable of doing.

Haye has done a lot of taunting of Klitschko for the past month, getting him upset with his t-shirt antics and insults in their press conferences. Wladimir badly wanted to knock Haye out for his comments.
