moore4524443By Nate Anderson: EBU (European) light middleweight champion Jamie Moore (32-3, 23 KOs) was too much for his Ukrainian challenger on Saturday night, taking him out in the 2nd round of a scheduled 12-round bout at the Crowtree Leisure Centre, in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.

Moore, 30, knocked Dzuman down late in the 2nd with a big left to the midsection. Dzuman got up but seconds later, Moore finished him off with another big left to the body.

Dzuman backed away after receiving the shot, then crouched down and took a knee. The bout was then stopped just as Dzuman was in the process of getting up.

Moore, ranked #6 in the World Boxing Council light middleweight division, looked much stronger than Dzuman as Moore attacked the Ukrainian in the first round with right hands to the head and body. Dzuman showed some nice hand speed early on, throwing quick combinations with little effect on Moore.

About a minute into the round, Dzuman stumbled to the canvas after being bumped by Moore. Although it wasn’t a knockout, it showed how much more powerful Moore was than Dzuman. Moore then began to land big body shots as he followed Dzuman around the ring, hitting him each time Moore could catch up to him.

It was still reasonably competitive at this point because Dzuman would fire off combinations every once in awhile and land cleanly each time. Moore looked really tight as if he hadn’t warmed up properly in the dressing room before the fight. It didn’t really matter, because Dzuman didn’t look as if he had the chin to last long enough to test Moore’s conditioning.

In the 2nd round, the fight was still somewhat close as Dzuman continued to fire back shots every once in awhile. However, after hitting Moore with a left-right to the midsection, Dzuman was dropped to the canvas when Moore fired back a left to Dzuman’s midsection, sending him down.

Dzuman got up but was met with three lefts to the head and then another left to the body that sent Dzuman backing up and then taking a knee. The fight was then stopped by referee Adrio Zannoni.
