News: Bradley-Holt, Herrera-Gordon, Burgos Targets Aoh

By Boxing News - 03/14/2009 - Comments

PALM SPRINGS, CALIF. (March 14, 2009) – Undefeated World Boxing Council (WBC) super lightweight champion TIMOTHY “Desert Storm” BRADLEY is all business at the gym today as he prepares for his world title unification rumble with World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior welterweight champion Kendall “Rated R” Holt.

The winner will surely see his stock rise and emerge as the 140-pound division’s only unified champion. Promoted by Top Rank and Gary Shaw Productions, the Bradley-Holt world championship fight will be televised live from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada on SHOWTIME Championship Boxing, Saturday, April 4, beginning at 10:45 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast.)

“I hope Holt has invested his time wisely, training hard in the gym, because I’m preparing a two-fisted stimulus package that will knock him into a deep depression,” said Bradley. “Holt may think he’s “Rated R” but he’s going to be rated less than a junk bond when I’ve finished trading with him. Holt is about to become a de-listed commodity on the boxing stock exchange.”

Bradley (23-0, 11 KOs), from Palm Springs, Calif., captured the WBC title on May 10, 2008, knocking defending champion Junior Witter down en route to a split decision victory. Bradley successfully defended the title on September 13, winning a unanimous decision over Edner Cherry. Holt (25-2, 13 KOs), from Paterson, NJ, captured the WBO title July 5, 2008, knocking out defending champion Ricardo Torres in the first round in one of the year’s most explosive and exciting fights. He successfully defended his title on December 13, winning a split decision over Demetrius Hopkins.

BURGOS TO AOH – “ANYTIME, ANYPLACE”

Orange CA (March 13) – Following his ascension to the number three spot in the WBC rankings after an impressive second round TKO win over Omar Lizarraga last month, unbeaten Juan Carlos Burgos is rapidly moving in on a long-awaited title shot.

His target? Tokyo’s Takahiro Aoh, who dethroned Mexican idol Oscar Larios on March 12th in their battle for the WBC featherweight crown.

“I’m ready for a title shot now, and there is no one I would rather fight than Aoh,” said Burgos. “And when I win the belt it will not be just for me, but for “Chololo” and all of Mexico. I will bring the championship back to Mexico, where it belongs.”

Unbeaten in 21 fights (with 15 knockouts), Tijuana’s Burgos has dazzled fight fans and struck fear into his opponents since his pro debut in 2004… Just 21 years old, “Miniburgos” (the nephew of former world champ Victor Burgos) added the WBC Cabofe featherweight title to his WBC Continental Americas crown by beating Lizarraga, but now he wants a world championship belt strapped around his waist.

“Anytime, anyplace,” said Burgos. “I will fight you, Takahiro Aoh.”
