gamboa45635ARENA’s fast rising featherweight superstar Yuriorkis Gamboa (13-0, 11 kos) will be back in action again on February 20th at the University Center Arena in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Only six weeks after stopping Roger “Speedy” Gonzalez in round 10 at his last ESPN appearance “El Ciclon” is ready to shine again on the next “Friday Night Fights” show presented by ARENA Box-Promotion US, LLC.

“Yuri is a true fighter”, states promoter Ahmet Öner. “He loves to go out there and show his talent, power and speed. If it was up to him he would most probably fight every other week. Originally we had planned to have him fight for the world title in his next bout but I think it might be good to give him another tough test before reaching for the gold.”

Gamboa completes the excellent line-up that will also see Columbian lightweight star Breidis Prescott (20-0, 18 kos) and light middleweight contender Richard Gutierrez (24-2-1, 14 kos) as well as hot Cuban prospect Erislandy Lara (3-0, 2 kos).

Tickets for the show labelled as “The Gunslingers” are available for $85, $50, $25, $15 plus fees at the UC Arena (Nova Southeastern University, 3301 College Ave, Ft. Lauderdale, call 954-262-5551), at all ticketmaster outlets and at www.ticketmaster.com (call 1-900-745-300).

Eubank: DeGale will fail

Former WBO middleweight and super middleweight Chris Eubank has predicted that Olympic boxer James DeGale will fail as a professional boxer. Eubank said that DeGale would struggle to fend off the outside pressures that continue to accompany his career.

Speaking during Steve Bunce’s Boxing Hour on Setanta Sports News Eubank said:

“Stay away from sin, stay away from guests. You have to fight, you have to spar. Gifts kill your hunger. Fame kills your hunger. Girls will destroy you.

“Fighters who have their own way all the time, they become white elephants. The best example of this is Audley Harrison.

“I hear James DeGale is getting a £1 million. I guarantee you he will fail. It robs your hunger. I fought Michael Watson. I wanted respect. I got up to carry on because I didn’t have respect.”

Eubank also had his say on the ‘will they, won’t they’ bout between Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao

“A fight it will be, it will not be a boxing match,” he added. “Suddenly I look to the after effects because he’s been using this style all his career.

“It will be exciting for the fans. I hope he’s taking the skills on board from Floyd Mayweather Sr. I’m not saying he can’t win the fight just bringing the fight to him.”
