By Boxing-Boy — Former WBC World Super Bantamweight title holder and famous Muay Thai champion Samart Poptheeratham, aka Samart Payakaroon, was transferred from a local hospital to a Provincial hospital in Kanchanaburi before stopped at Vichaivej Hospital in Bangkok, after having a severe chest discomfort during filming in the night-time of May 24.

According to Muay Siam Newspaper reported Thai former world champion rushed to Sai Yok Hospital immediately after chest pain was started. He was transferred to Phaholpolpayuhasena Hospital in Kanchanaburi Province and received a strong blood thinner injection their. Finally he was moved to Vichaivej Hospital in Bangkok to do the Coronary Angiogram and Percutaneous Intervention on May 25. The Interventionist put the arterial stent in one of his left Coronary Arteries System without any complications both from heart attack and procedures. Now his condition is much improving but stills need to stay in the intensive care only for monitoring. He is expected to stay in the hospital for a few more days.

Payakaroon was the famous Muay Thai star before he started to have the boxing live. In January 1986, He captured the Vacant WBC Super Bantamweight title by 5th round TKO won over the previous Mexican world champion Lupe Pinter who was stripped the belt after failure to make weight before this fight. He retained WBC world title by 12th round KO over Juan “Kid” Meza in the dramatic fight because he showed his very good eyes and boxing skill to escape more than 20 punches of Meza in the last round before knocked down his rival immediately. Payakaroon lost his title via 4th round KO to the Australian star Jeff Fenech in May 1987. After fist retirement in early 1988, he returned to the ring in 5 years later and got 5 win before challenged WBA Featherweight title with Eloy Rojas but failed to captured his second world title due to 8th round TKO to the Venezuelan world champion. That is the last fight for him in boxing style.
