On Saturday, October 15, Nathan “The Timberwolf” Millier (9-0-1, 7KOs) of Elsipotog fights for the Canadian super middleweight title in his home province, taking on reigning champion Shakeel Phinn (9-1-0, 5KOs) at the Aitken Centre in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The fight is the co-main event for L-Jack Promotions’ big WBU Intercontinental title clash between boxer-promoter Brandon “L-Jack” Brewer (18-0-1, 11KOs) and Anderson Clayton (44-20-2, 38KOs). Recently, Millier issued a few statements for the press.
On the Canadian title:
“From the day I started boxing, the Canadian title has been on my mind. I had a few obstacles which pulled me away from other opportunities but, nonetheless, I feel confident going into the ring October 15th.”
On Shakeel Phinn:
“From what I see, Shakeel loves to set the pace, but he’s never fought an alpha like me. Capitalizing on the punch he least expects is very important when closing the fight. Let’s just say the fight fans will be on their feet!”
On being a boxer and an Elsipotog Band Councillor:
“I was elected this March and I have a superabundance of people who support me. Not only my Reservation, but the majority of Atlantic Canada. That’s why I’m a crowd favorite. Being a professional athlete isn’t just about being a professional in the ring. That’s half the battle, but it’s what you do outside the ring that makes you a true professional. I enjoy working with everyone and people see my dedication and hard work.
