golovkin3(Photos by Emily Harney / Banner Promotions) By Gerardo Granados: Next Saturday 16 at the Forum, Inglewood, California; Gennady “GGG” Golovkin will fight against Willie Monroe Jr in his 14 consecutive title bout defense also trying to extend his knockout streak to 20 consecutive knockouts.

Meanwhile some boxing writes try to demise GGG next title bout the true fight fans know very well that if Golovkin is facing Monroe Jr is because Miguel Cotto has simply avoided him and others middleweight belt holders want no part of him.

Willie´s lack of punching power makes him tailor made for GGG, maybe he can move use his jab and try to outbox, but at the end his lack of punching power won’t allow him to keep off of him a hungry lion who once sense fear or taste blood goes for the kill.

Gennady needs to do what he usually does and be patient and wear down his prey with body punches cutting off the corners. Southpaw Willie Monroe Jr is a good boxer but he simply lacks the tools needed to defeat the current middleweight champion of the world.

This one might not be the third major brawl of the year but for sure Golovkin won’t leave the decision to the fight judges and will try his best to KO Monroe Jr and extent his KO streak.

It’s been a while since GGG campaigns at middleweight, at his amateur days he won gold at the World Championships in 2003, the silver medal at the 2004 Olympics and has fought his entire professional boxing career at that weight. At 33 years of age he has 9 years as a prize fighter and holds an impressive impeccable record of W32 (29)-L0-D0.

On last Friday weigh inn; Gennady looked a little bit emaciated to me. It is natural for a fighter to be forced to move up in weight but on times there are boxers who have campaign their entire career at the same weight limit. Marvin Hagler is a good example just as Aaron Pryor but by the way GGG has been avoided he might be forced to move up to try to get the so called big names at 168 to fight him.

I think if Gennady does not cleans up the 160 division before moving up it will be because he is been avoided and the rest of the belt holders does not deserve any merit to deny Golovkin to be considered the rightful middleweight king.

Maybe I am seeing things that aren’t there, perhaps Golovkin body will force him to move up in the near future but for certain GGG could stay forever at the middleweight division and the rest of the belt holders will find any excuse to not to fight him.

But what about the reader; do you think GGG can stay forever at the 160 limit?
