Rigondeaux has the skills to dominate Agbeko

rigondeaux55By Gerardo Granados: Next Saturday night at Atlantic City, New Jersey, U.S.; the former IBF – IBO bantamweight champion Joseph Agbeko (W29(22)-L4-D0) will engage against the current WBA Super World – WBO super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (W12(8)L0-D0). But are fight fans looking forward to see this fight?

Although Rigondeaux is a very talented boxer his fighting style and personality might not amuse too many fight fans. He has the ring experience and over all boxing skills to become a huge draw but will he be able to exploit it?

Once the fight fans get attracted to prize fighter they will follow him, but if the boxer fighting style isn’t amusing to them then he might end up not taking profit from his performance inside the ring. There are other prize fighters that aren’t as skilled as Rigondeaux but who are way more entertaining to watch and by consequence they get paid a lot more per fight; just as an example of what a meant is Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., who might not be as skilled as Rigondeaux but is brave and courageous with a fan friendly fighting style that allows him to earn big money each time he gets into the ring.

Big George Foreman said that boxing is like Jazz but the reader might also agree on that there are not many people who listen to Jazz now a day. If the fight fans want to see action then they should get to see what they paid for. If the reader wants to see a pure boxing then there is the amateurs to please your eyes. Pro boxing is a business and the prizefighters fight for money so if the fight fans are willing to pay then I guess it’s a no brainer to discover what Rigondeaux should do to exploit his great ability.
Rigondeaux personality isn’t as attractive as the one that Floyd Mayweather Jr poses but if Guillermo is able to please the crowd by taking more risks in order to get a knockout win, then he could end up being followed by a lot more fanatics. I am not saying he should go all guns blazing being careless but just to try to push the fight instead of getting on his bicycle running around shutting off part of the rounds all the time. Even if he was to lose a fight he will always get the respect of the audience for being brave.

The reader can name with ease at least ten prizefighters who aren’t as skilled as Rigondeaux but who make a lot more money per fight. Maybe Guillermo spent too much time on the amateurs and that is why he is so calm on the interviews but his trainer should urge him to be more entertaining because each fight that goes by is a missed chance to take profit in a profession that doesn’t last forever.
Rigondeaux has the tools to win convincingly but will the Chacal exploit them?
